SPECIAL INFORMATION: This position is dependent on grant funding and utilizes an employment contract. Funding for this position is anticipated to be available through June 2020. If additional funding becomes available the contract may be renewed or extended.

ADDITIONAL SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION: This is a Teachers’ Retirement position. Full-time employees earn 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, state holidays, health and dental benefits and life insurance. They also receive access to a defined benefit - contribution retirement. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Teacher Learning Hub Project Specialist will serve to coordinate and develop activities of the OPI Teacher Learning Hub and Striving Readers grant.

The mission of the program is to deliver high quality online professional learning to educators across the state of Montana and support the training needs of the agency.

Key Responsibilities:
• Using the Moodle Learning Management System, develop and support high-quality online professional learning development and delivery;
• Support the OPI Teacher Learning Hub online platform;
• Support the technological and infrastructure needs for system operation and content development on Moodle;
• Provide coordination and technical assistance to OPI programs, professional learning providers, and educational organizations in the development and delivery of high quality online professional learning;
• Organize video conferencing and webinar platforms for internal and external groups;
• Coordinate and report on project activities with designated OPI staff; and
• Coordinate marketing and promotion efforts with designated OPI staff.

 

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES:
• Understand principles of effective teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of the principles of effective professional development and adult education.
• Knowledge of the Montana Content Standards and evidenced-based instructional strategies.
• Experience with online, blended, and face-to-face professional development presentations.
• Expertise and knowledge of the Moodle Learning Management System.
• Working knowledge of online content-development tools.
• Proficiency with Google Apps for Education, Office 365 and/or Microsoft Office products.
• Proficiency with GoToMeeting, GotoWebinar and other teleconferencing tools (preferred).
• Background in accessibility compliance in online course development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Education, curriculum/content academic major with elementary/secondary licensure and endorsement.
• A minimum of three years of K–12 school and/or district teaching and/or leadership experience in standards-based education, curriculum development, instruction, program evaluation, and/or assessment.

Include the date(s), title, targeted audience, and type (online, blended, or face to face) of each training and presentation listed.
